Coach Jong Song-jon has been chosen to manage Hanoi Watabe I in the national women's league.

Jong accepted the invitation from Hanoi National Sports Training Center. He will bring analysis expert Park Ji-un to the club.

For many years, Jong had managed the U20 South Korea team before coaching the national women's football squad from 2010 to 2018. During his spell, the team qualified for Asian Games twice and World Cup four times.

In 2020, he led Incheon Huyndai Steel Red Angles to South Korea's top division Women K-League title.

In the invitation, Hanoi National Sports Center will cover all Jong’s costs, including salary, bonus, visa and other fees relating to Covid-19 quarantine in Vietnam. The salary of expert Park will be covered by Hanoi Football Federation.

He will coach Hanoi Watabe I for six months until December 2021, before a decision is made on a possible contract extension.

Jong is expected to help Hanoi claim their first national women's football champs title since 2014. The team finished second last season, after Ho Chi Minh City I.
