Viettel FC has strengthened their firepower with the addition of V. League joint top scorer, Brazilian striker Pedro Paulo, from Saigon FC.

Paulo officially signed a two-year contract with the V. League 2020 champions, presenting himself at his new club Wednesday morning. The striker was seen training at Viettel’s sports center one month ago, though the deal had not been made official until now.

"Playing for Viettel means I would have to put even more effort into upcoming tournaments, especially AFC Champions League. At the moment, I'm training hard with my teammates every day. My goal is to score many goals for Viettel and help the club defend its title. I'm focusing on the Super Cup game against Hanoi FC, as I will try to score there," Paulo stated.

The Brazilian parted ways with Saigon FC after a dynamic season. He became V. League 2020's joint top scorer with 12 goals, alongside Jamaican striker Rimario Gordon, who enjoyed a great season with Hanoi FC before moving to Binh Dinh FC in this transfer window.

In his last two seasons at Saigon FC, Paulo was a regular starter and scored 24 goals in 41 appearances for the club. He is praised for his physical, strength and pace.

The 26-year-old striker will play his first game for Viettel in their Super Cup clash against Hanoi on Jan. 9. A week later, he will start his first V. League game for the club, set to face Hai Phong FC at home.
