Serie A club Sassuolo have reportedly set a €40 million (US$46.7 million) asking price for Indonesia naturalized defender Jay Idzes following interest from AC Milan and other clubs ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Milan have identified Idzes as a primary target for the winter transfer window. The Rossoneri considered his combination of physical presence and tactical awareness as a vital addition to their squad.

Having joined Sassuolo from Venezia for approximately €8 million in the summer of 2025, Idzes has seen his market value quintupled in just six months following his breakthrough performance in the Serie A.

Idzes earned praise for his game-reading ability and tactical flexibility, as he can play well in any of the roles in a three-man defensive line, making him a modern center-back who caught the attention of many big clubs, including Milan. The club's scout was seen attending a lot of Sassuolo's matches this season to watch Idzes.

Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali recently signaled an openness to negotiations, confirming that the club will not hinder the progress of young players looking to join major teams. This stance aligns with Sassuolo's policy of developing talent and capitalizing on market opportunities once their financial valuations are met.

Idzes, 25, was born in the Netherlands but chose to represent Indonesia at the international level. In December 2023, he was granted Indonesian citizenship. In March 2024, he made his debut for Indonesia and has become a key player for the national team.
