The shortlist for the 2019 Vietnamese Golden Ball awards was announced on Sunday, with Hanoi FC players dominating the list.

Hanoi FC has four players nominated for the Best Male Player: Do Hung Dung, Nguyen Quang Hai, Nguyen Van Quyet, and Doan Van Hau, who is currently on loan to Dutch club SC Heerenveen.

They are joined by Nguyen Trong Hoang of Viettel FC.

Hau has also been nominated for Best Young Player (under 21 years) along with Nguyen Hoang Duc, Tran Danh Trung and Nguyen Van Toan.

In the futsal category, all five nominees are from Thai Son Nam FC.

The organizers of the award announced that a Contribution Award will be given to both national men's team coach, Park Hang-seo, and women's team coach, Mai Duc Chung.

The Golden Ball awards are based on votes from football experts and pundits, coaches of V. League clubs, women's teams, futsal teams, and sports journalists. 

Nguyen Quang Hai won for 2018.

The full list of nominations for the 2019 Vietnamese Golden Ball awards:

Best Male Player: Do Hung Dung (Hanoi FC), Nguyen Quang Hai (Hanoi FC), Doan Van Hau (Heerenveen SC), Nguyen Van Quyet (Hanoi FC) and Nguyen Trong Hoang (Viettel FC).

Best Female Player: Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung (Phong Phu Ha Nam FC), Chuong Thi Kieu (HCMC FC), Huynh Nhu (HCMC FC), Tran Thi Kim Thanh (HCMC FC) and Pham Hai Yen (Hanoi FC).

Best Futsal Player: Pham Duc Hoa, Tran Thai Huy, Nguyen Minh Tri, Tran Van Vu and Ho Van Y (all from Thai Son Nam FC)

Best Young Player: Nguyen Hoang Duc (Viettel FC), Doan Van Hau (Heerenveen SC), Nguyen Van Toan (Hai Phong FC) and Tran Danh Trung (Viettel FC).

Best Foreign Player: Bruno Cantanhede (Viettel FC), Damir Memovic (SLNA FC) and Pape Omar Faye (Hanoi FC).

The awards will be given at the Ho Chi Minh City Theater on February 13.
