Coach Park calls up 33 players for AFF Cup

All key players that have competed in World Cup qualifiers are in the preliminary list Park announced Friday.

A few players of the U23 team also made the list thanks to their positive performance in U23 Asian Cup qualifiers this October.

The team will start preparations for AFF Cup in southern beach town Vung Tau near HCMC. Vung Tau was selected due to its similarity in weather with Singapore, host of AFF Cup this year.

Throughout the training process, Park will assess and cross three players out to bring 30 to the tournament.

After training, the team will fly to Singapore on Dec. 1.

AFF Cup was supposed to take place in 2020, but has been postponed until this year due to Covid-19. The organizers decided to keep the name AFF Cup 2020 for sponsorship purpose. The tournament will take place from Dec. 5 to Jan. 1, 2022.

Vietnam, the defending champions, are in group B with Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia and Laos.
