The Lao Football Federation (LFF) has set the ticket price for their matches in the group stage of the 2024 AFF Cup, including the clash with Vietnam, at less than a dollar.

The LFF on Dec. 3 announced the ticket price for their two matches in group B of AFF Cup, against Vietnam on Dec. 9 and the Philippines on Dec. 15 at the national stadium at 20,000 Lao kip, or US$0.91, making games in Laos among the cheapest of the tournament.

Many Lao fans were happy to hear the news.

"With this ticket price, the fans will have more opportunities to support for our team at the stadium," said Meo Dum Saiykhaeng, a football fan.

In addition to the home matches against Vietnam and the Philippines, Laos will also play away games against Myanmar and Indonesia in group B.

The Laos national team is led by South Korean coach Han Hyeok-jun. In the call-up list of 26 players that Han just announced for the AFF Cup, half of the members on the team are young players, including 15 under 23 years old, with midfielder Phousomboun Panyavong, 17, being the youngest.

In November, Laos held Thailand to a 1-1 draw in a friendly during FIFA international break.

Meanwhile, tickets to watch the group stage home matches of Vietnam against Indonesia on Dec. 15 and Myanmar on Dec. 21 at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho, have three different price stamps, at VND300,000 ($11.8), 200,000 and 100,000. If coach Kim Sang-sik and his team advance, they will get to play the semifinals and final at home ground My Dinh Stadium.

The cost to watch the group stage matches at Rizal Memorial Stadium in the Philippines against Vietnam and Myanmar are also cheap, with four thresholds: 120 pesos ($2.07), 320 pesos, 530 pesos and 740 pesos.

The AFF Cup will be renamed the ASEAN Cup from this year, running from Dec. 8, 2024, to Jan. 5, 2025. The 10 participating teams will be divided into two groups, playing two home and two away matches. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-place teams, will advance to the semifinals. From this stage, matches will be played over two legs, but away goals rule will not be applied.
