Days after defending his three heavyweight boxing belts and earning nearly US$90 million in his victory over Tyson Fury, Ukrainian star boxer Oleksandr Usyk did not hesitate to flaunt a fake Rolex watch.

In an interview with United44 on Dec. 25, the 37-year-old champion revealed the story behind the watch, even showing it to the camera.

"I was boasting a little and showed the cameraman my watch. It's a Chinese Rolex," Usyk said and laughed. "I was in Turkey for training and saw guys selling Rolexes on the beach. I thought if I bought one, no one would guess that it was a fake. So I bought it for $100."

Usyk’s casual attitude surprised many, as top athletes often wear expensive clothing, jewelry, and luxury items. Cristiano Ronaldo, for instance, was spotted wearing a $115,000 Rolex while traveling to Euro 2024 and Floyd Mayweather famously purchased a $1.1 million diamond-encrusted watch during a trip to Dubai, which is among the world’s most expensive watches.

Usyk claimed victory over Fury with unanimous referee scores of 116-112. The Ukrainian boxer retained the WBA, WBC and WBO heavyweight belts, maintaining his perfect record of 23 wins, including 14 knockouts.

The fight also marked a historic moment in boxing as the first bout was scored by an AI referee, which awarded Usyk a score of 118-112.

According to Pravda, Usyk earned $86 million as the champion in this fight. Fury took home $70 million, though his earnings were significantly reduced by U.K. tax deductions.

Earlier in May, Fury entered their heavyweight unification bout against Usyk and claimed 70% of the total prize purse due to his WBC title and higher marketability. He earned $103 million before taxes from the $147 million pool, while Usyk took home $44.4 million.

Following his victory, Usyk hinted at the possibility of a rematch with Daniel Dubois, the current IBF titleholder. Usyk previously defeated Dubois via a ninth-round knockout in Poland in August 2023. Since that loss, Dubois has regained momentum with consecutive victories over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua.
