American player Daquan Bracey scored 50 points in the opening game of the special national basketball season called VBA Premier Bubble Games.

Despite his modest height for a basketball player (1.80 meters) and lack of professional competition experience, Bracey was the ace of Saigon Heat in their game against Nha Trang Dolphins. With an impressive pace and dribbling skills, Bracey helped Saigon make a comeback to win the game after Nha Trang took the lead.

Bracey broke the previous record American Zach Allmon established during VBA 2018 (48 points).

The point guard was the number choice of Louisiana Tech in American National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I over four years. With 109 division games, "DayDay" became the third player in Louisiana Tech’s history to score over 1,400 points (1,477) and more than 500 assists (508).

Saigon signed Bracey for the national basketball league VBA 2021, which was canceled in August after commencing for over two months amid Covid-19. All games were played behind closed doors at Nha Trang University Gymnasium in the central Khanh Hoa Province.

After the cancellation, league organizers decided to broadcast all games played and renamed VBA 2021 to VBA Premier Bubble Games. The games will be screened on VTV from Oct. 4 to Nov. 6. Those who missed the games on TV can watch them on the official tournament YouTube later.
