Around 2,000 independent Herbalife Vietnam members took part in the VnExpress Vung Tau International Half Marathon Herbalife Cup 2026, accounting for nearly a third of the field.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Thanh Dat, Senior Communications Director of Herbalife Vietnam, said the company was encouraged by the turnout and described its members as ambassadors for an active lifestyle.

Dat said maintaining good health requires regular physical activity, adding that running is accessible to both professional and recreational athletes with basic equipment and appropriate physical and mental preparation.

This accessibility is one reason Herbalife has made running a key part of the sporting activities it supports. The VnExpress Vung Tau International Half Marathon Herbalife Cup 2026 marked the 18th running event the company has partnered with VnExpress on.

Dat said Herbalife aims to raise awareness of the role of nutrition and physical activity in maintaining health through its involvement in the race series.

Citing recommendations from nutrition and health experts, he said people should spend at least 30 minutes a day exercising.

"There are no shortcuts to proactive healthcare," he said.

While runners often participate in races to challenge themselves and achieve personal bests, Dat said maintaining physical activity after a race is also important.

"Spend some time exercising and choose an activity that suits you, whether it is running, walking, badminton, or table tennis," he said.

Vietnamese people are "extremely passionate about sports," Dat said, citing support for the national football team during the recent ASEAN Championship.

"What is even more important is that we turn that passion into action so that we can improve our own health and achieve our long-term health goals," he said.

Dat said VnExpress Marathon has expanded to more locations across Vietnam and attracted domestic and international runners.

The VnExpress Vung Tau International Half Marathon Herbalife Cup 2026 was among the sporting events held during the National Day holiday.

Making its debut in Vung Tau, the race featured 5km, 10km and 21km distances on Aug. 30. The routes took runners along coastal roads, through central areas and past prominent landmarks.

The event offered prizes worth more than VND662 million (US$25,100) across 52 categories. Of the total, VND200 million was awarded in cash, with the remainder comprising in-kind prizes.
