SEA Games 31: Vietnam make gold medal rain on Sunday

Vietnam left other countries far behind with 29 gold medals won on Sunday, including main sports like athletics and swimming, raising the gold tally to 68.

In wushu, Vietnam dominated most of the categories and claimed 7 gold medals. The athletics athletes had a successful day with 5 golds. Tran Hung Nguyen brought Vietnam another swimming gold in the men’s 400 m. Dancesport also got 5 golds on Sunday.

The 3,000 m hurdles run of Nguyen Thi Oanh.

Jiujitsu and bodybuilding also fetched Vietnam two gold medals each.

Other sports like duathlon, xiangqi, chess, gymnastics, pétanque, fencing and esports brought in one gold each for Vietnam.

Sunday also witnessed heartbreaking losses of Vietnam in the finals of men’s and women’s basketball, along with football game FIFA Online 4, all against Thailand.

On the current gold tally, Vietnam are having 68, followed by Thailand with 24 and Philippines with 20.
