Foreign tourists have complained about problems going through Vietnam's major airports, from the long wait to the cold faces, but some said they never had a problem.

"Frankly, immigration has improved a lot in recent years. I rarely wait for longer than 15 minutes in SGN (Tan Son Nhat Airport)."

"I flew in last week from Singapore to Hanoi on the 17:35 flight. It took me less than 45 minutes to go through immigration and luggage pick up. So it depends of the time of the day but forget about smiling immigration agents. Have you ever seen a French immigration agent smiling? Good luck."

"I landed at Tan Son Nhat around 9:15 p.m. on March 16, 2023. Immigration took about 5 minutes, luggage claim about 10 minutes, and Grabbing a taxi about 10 minutes. No problem. No worries. Enjoy!"

"It has always been smooth at Noi Bai. In any case, what is depicted is hardly worse than what one can expect in the U.S., Canada, Brazil and scores of other countries. And good luck getting a friendly nod from French immigration!"

"Have been visiting Vietnam for over 10 years. Yes, the long immigration queues are back in the couple of trips in 2023, although all counters are open. It's a capacity/infrastructure/hardware issue and too many flights - in and out. As to personnel, can't really say immigration is good or bad service. It's luck of the draw from my personal experience and same as other countries. But no bad experience so far. Not expecting a "5-star service experience". It is what it is. Can changes happen? ... hopefully. Just enjoy Vietnam for all its charms, people, inefficiencies, traffic....."
