Hanoi was voted the top food destination on Tripadvisor 2023 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best Awards, and Hoi An the second best honeymoon destination in the world.

Vietnam's capital Hanoi claimed the top spot in the "Food Destinations" category on Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Best of the Best, an annual award given based on reviews and opinions from the community over a 12-month period.

Other destinations, including Rome, Crete, Cusco of Peru, and Florence in Italy followed suit.

Hanoi's top culinary picks on Tripadvisor feature bun cha (grilled pork with vermicelli noodles), Giang Coffee, cha ca (fish with dill & turmeric) Thang Long, and pho.

Hoi An further stood out by securing the second spot among the best honeymoon destinations, led by Bali. Additional Southeast Asian entries include Maldives at third place and Khao Lak in Thailand at the sixth spot.

Hanoi also secured fourth spot and Hoi An claimed 10th position among the 25 top destinations worldwide in Tripadvisor's 2023 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best Awards.

Elsewhere in Southeast Asia, Bali claimed second spot while Bangkok landed in 15th place and Phuket secured 18th.

Hanoi, recognized for its well-aged charm, merges ancient architecture with modern society. Landmarks like Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, Hoa Lo Prison, and over 600 temples and pagodas contribute to its allure.

Hoi An meanwhile stands as an example of a Southeast Asian trading port from the 15th-19th centuries, attracting backpackers and gaining popularity among tourists.

On the 14th day of each lunar month, the town transforms with traditional colored lanterns. Notable sights include the Japanese Covered Bridge and the Quan Cong Temple, offering tailored clothing from local artisans.
