Phu Quoc, a resort hotspot in southern Vietnam, is offering free smart electric bus services to and from tourist attractions on the island.

Phu Quoc Tourism Development and Investment Company runs the first of the new routes from 5 a.m. to midnight.

It carries tourists from Duong Dong Town to Long Beach on Tran Hung Dao Street.

Stretching for almost 20 km along the southwestern coast of Phu Quoc, Long Beach boasts turquoise waters and golden sand. The locale is home to a series of luxury resorts.

The second route takes tourists from Ganh Dau, one of the most secluded areas on the island, to Phu Quoc International Airport from 5:30 a.m. until midnight.

Ganh Dau Cape is in the northern part of Phu Quoc Island where tourism activities remain underdeveloped.

There would be a total of 14 buses, each capable of transporting 28 passengers at a time.

The smart electric bus service is free of charge for all visitors at least until year-end as Phu Quoc is making efforts to improve its images as tourism figures have plummeted recently.

Well known for its long, sandy beaches of turquoise waters and dense forests, Phu Quoc is a popular holiday destination for both Vietnamese and foreign tourists.

It is also home to a marine sanctuary and a national park popular with trekkers.
