A new luxury hotel in Singapore where guest rooms have been refurbished from decommissioned public buses will open from Dec. 1, with rates starting at S$398 (US$300).

Covering 8,600 square meters in Changi Village, the Bus Collective will be Southeast Asia's first luxury hotel made from retired buses, CNBC reported.

Bookings can be made via its website at www.thebuscollective.com and travel booking sites.

Twenty old-fashioned buses that were previously operated by public transport operator SBS Transit have been designed into luxury suites, with a king-sized bed, sofa bed and bathtub.

Each room covers 45 square meters and can accommodate up to four guests, the hotel’s website showed.

Although these buses have been entirely refurbished, some features such as the steering wheel, driver seat and windows have still been retained.

The hotel is just a few steps from some tourist attractions like the Village Hawker Center, East Boardwalk, and Chapel & Museum.

Recreational activities are not available at the hotel, but it will be organizing guided tours such as a biking trip around Pulau Ubin, an island off the coast of Singapore with prices of SG$99 per person, which includes a two-way ferry transfer to and from the island.

Other experiences include a guided food tour and sailing at Changi Sailing Club.
