It was followed by Phong Nha, home to the world's largest cave Son Doong, and Ninh Binh, home to UNESCO heritage site Trang An Landscape Complex.
The other names in the list were Cao Bang, Phu Quoc, Ha Giang, Ha Long, Da Lat, Tuy Hoa and Nha Trang.
The rankings were based on an analysis of more than 309 million verified reviews made on Booking.com as part of the 12th annual Traveler Review Awards.
A record 1.48 million travel partners across 221 countries and territories are being recognized for their hospitality with the Traveller Review Award 2024, including 11,362 properties across Vietnam.
To be recognized with the award, accommodation partners had to have an average review score of 8 out of 10 or higher. Only customers that have actually stayed in accommodation, rented a car or rode in a taxi can leave a review of their experience on Booking.com.
"Hoi An impresses travelers with its unique architectural ensemble that features iconic yellow houses and rich traditional heritage," Booking.com stated.
The 400-year-old town sitting along the Thu Bon River is best discovered by foot as it has plenty of stores selling everything from silk dresses and suits to leather goods and quirky souvenirs.
