HCMC allows some tourist sites, travel firms to serve foreign visitors

HCMC authorities have named nine tourist attractions and five travel firms that are allowed to serve foreign tourists coming on tour packages prior to the country's mid-March border reopening.

The former include the Central Post Office, Ho Chi Minh Museum, War Remnants Museum, Southern Women's Museum, Ao Dai Museum, Vietnam History Museum, Cu Chi Tunnels, Sac Forest Tourism Area and Saigon Skydeck Observatory at the Bitexco Financial Tower.

The travel firms are Saigontourist, Vinasun travel, Hai Van Cat Travel, TSTourist, and Blue Sky Travel.

From March 15 foreign tourists can visit the country without booking tour packages.

In January the city got the government green light to allow in foreign tourists under a vaccine pass program along with Da Nang City and five provinces.

HCMC hopes to receive 25 million domestic and 3.5 million foreign tourists this year and earn revenues of VND97.7 trillion ($4.3 billion).

It received over 8.6 million foreign visitors in 2019, the year before the pandemic began.
