The rest of the top 10 destinations were: Phu Quoc Island, Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Ha Long, Quy Nhon, Ho Chi Minh City and Mui Ne.

Holland based Booking.com used its booking data of Vietnamese tourists between July 1 and August 31, the peak summer travel season in Vietnam.

For outbound travel, Singapore was the most searched overseas destination by Vietnamese tourists, followed by Thailand.

Both Southeast Asian countries offer free visas for ASEAN citizens and have lifted most Covid restrictions for foreign tourists.

Vietnamese tourists are the second most confident in Asia-Pacific about post-Covid travel after India, according to survey results released last month by Booking.com. The survey polled 11,000 travelers in 11 countries and territories in the region between April and May.

Vietnam has seen a domestic tourism boom after reopening. There were 60.8 million domestic tourists in the first half of this year, 1.4 times the pre-pandemic number and exceeding the annual target of 60 million.
