The central beach city Da Nang topped a list of 10 trending destinations for Indian travelers, with the largest recent year-on-year increase in searches on Skyscanner India.

The Vietnamese capital of Hanoi came in fifth, according to the travel website.

Da Nang, famous for its long, sandy beaches, recorded an increase of 1,141% in year-on-year searches, according to the latest report released this week by Skyscanner.

It was followed by Almaty in Kazakhstan (501%) and Baku in Azerbaijan (438%).

Hanoi’s fifth-place ranking on the list was thanks to a 396% search increase, following Japan’s Osaka (435%).

The list was based on an analysis of increases in searches from India between Aug. 7, 2022-Aug. 7, 2023 versus the same period in 2021-2022.

The rest of the top 10 were Krabi in Thailand, Budapest in Hungary, Mahe Island in Seychelles, Auckland in New Zealand and Vienna in Austria.

Da Nang has ideal weather suitable for the preferences of Indian tourists, according to the report by the booking website and app. Da Nang also offers myriad famous seafood restaurants with a capacity of 100-300 guests, as well as more than 30 Indian restaurants that also serve Halal food.

Da Nang is the busiest tourist city in central Vietnam, and has been used as a springboard to access three world famous heritage sites – the former Imperial Capital of Hue, the My Son Champa Sanctuary, and the Old Town of Hoi An.

India was one of 10 largest markets for Vietnamese inbound tourism last year, accounting for 137,900 arrivals.

There were about 200,000 Indian visitors to Vietnam in 2019.

During the first nine months of 2023, Da Nang welcomed more than 95,000 tourist arrivals from India, accounting for almost half of the total visitors from the South Asian country to Vietnam, statistics show.
