A Cebu Pacific Air flight from the Philippine capital Manila carrying 177 passengers landed at Da Nang International Airport Thursday, marking the first service between the two cities.

The carrier said it deploys A320NEO aircraft for the thrice weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Tran Chi Cuong, vice chairman of Da Nang, said the Philippines is a promising tourism market and the city is seeking ways to develop new tourism products to attract tourists from the country, according to the city's news portal.

While Vietnam's main tourism markets like South Korea and the U.S. are still recovering to pre-Covid levels, Southeast Asia has become a bright spot for it.

It received over 137,000 tourists from the Philippines in the first 11 months of this year, down from 164,000 in the same period in 2019.

Da Nang, home to the Golden Bridge and Marble Mountains, a cluster of five marble and limestone hills with pagodas on top and hidden caves with Buddhist shrines, is one of Vietnam’s top tourist destinations.

It has received over 1.6 million foreign visitors so far this year, up 5.8 times year-on-year.
