Many residents in Ho Chi Minh City shared their experiences of tiring daily commutes across Go Vap District, one of the most congested areas in the city that borders Tan Son Nhat airport, with high population and small roads.

Reader Kieu_anh_vu_911 recalled their struggle: "I used to live in District 12 and worked in District 1, crossing through Go Vap for five years. It was a miserable time. I worked eight hours a day but spent an additional two hours on the road. The commute drained 30% of my energy in the morning and another 30% in the evening. By the time I got home, I was drained of all energy, and could not do anything productive."

Reader Trangpth1101 described similar frustrations, traveling 40 km daily and being stuck in long queues: "Anyone who has experienced the traffic on Phan Van Tri, Nguyen Oanh, Thong Nhat, and Quang Trung streets knows how exhausting it is. Leaving early or late isn't a solution because everyone has different responsibilities. Personally, I rush home to have time to study. This routine gradually wears down our quality of life, with consequences for the younger generation. I hope local authorities actively work on improving traffic in Go Vap."

Too much time stuck on the road

Reader Yusaku, who used to live in Go Vap, shared their commuting experience: "I used to travel 13 km each way to go to work every day, often spending over an hour in traffic. The roads were always clogged and I was just stuck in traffic breathing in dust. On rainy days, it could take up to three hours."

Longtime resident Aq12345 lamented the district's transformation: "I've lived in Go Vap for 36 years. When the district was less developed, traffic jams were a rare occurrence. Now, the population has been booming and traffic increased, but the roads haven't kept up. Quang Trung Street, the main route to the city center, is constantly jammed unless you're traveling at 2 or 3 a.m. During construction projects that took years, my house, just 700 meters from my workplace, was nearly impossible to reach without delays."

Several readers proposed potential solutions to reduce traffic congestion:

"Go Vap's roads are too small to handle its large population," said AlibaD. "We need to expand major streets like Quang Trung, Le Duc Tho, and Pham Van Chieu, and create new escape routes from neighboring districts Tan Binh and Binh Thanh."

Chinh Pham recommended a temporary measure: "Nguyen Kiem Street, from Gia Dinh Park to Phu Nhuan intersection, should have two-way lanes for motorbikes during peak hours to ease congestion."

Reader Hien Le Thanh emphasized long-standing projects: "Many road expansions have been proposed for years, such as widening Quang Trung and Thong Nhat streets or extending Duong Quang Ham. We also need to consider creating tunnels or alternative routes through the Tan Son Nhat airport to connect Go Vap to the city center."
