Xi sent a message to President Nguyen Xuan Phuc Monday stressing that China attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations and stands ready to boost the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a press release.
On the same day, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang sent a congratulatory message to Vietnam's new Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in which he promised to actively build the win-win cooperation between Vietnam and China.
Putin said in his message to Phuc he was confident that with mutual efforts the two countries would continue to develop their strategic partnership to benefit their peoples and consolidate security and stability in the Asia - Pacific region.
Laos' President Thongloun Sisoulith sent a message and called to congratulate Phuc. He expressed the belief that the new leadership would help Vietnam achieve greater things.
Laos’ Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh in a congratulatory message to Chinh promised to work with Vietnam to grow their bilateral relationship to benefit their peoples and achieve peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and world.
In the afternoon Cambodian PM Hun Sen sent messages to Phuc and Chinh and called the new president. He was assured that the new Vietnamese president would work toward enhancing his country's position on the international stage.
Hun Sen pledged to work closely with the Vietnamese prime minister to deepen the relationship between the two countries, and expressed optimism that Vietnam and Cambodia could overcome the challenges posed by Covid-19 and achieve peace, stability, sustainable development, and prosperity.
Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide of Japan sent similar congratulatory messages to the new leaders.
