Woman dies after Covid vaccination

The provincial health department said "the patient died from grade 4 anaphylactic reaction after Covid-19 vaccination due to inherent characteristics of vaccines"; that her death was not related to the vaccination process, transportation, storage and use of the vaccine.

She did not experience any abnormal reaction after her first shot on Nov. 21.

After she was administered with the second shot on Dec. 30 afternoon, she stayed 30 minutes at the vaccination site for health monitoring and started to feel fatigue, shortness of breath, abdominal pain and nausea. She was treated by medical staff at the site and was transferred to Sa Pa Town General Hospital, where a team of Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital provided emergency assistance.

However, she died at 9 p.m. on the same day.

The same Pfizer vaccine vial was administered to six other people, and she was the second recipient. Local health officials said that five other people are in stable and normal health.

This is the fifth Covid vaccination deaths in the country due to overreaction to the Pfizer vaccine, the other victims being children between 12 and 16 years of age.
