Vietnam wins four golds at physics, biology Olympiads

Vietnam has secured a medal haul, including four golds, in two 2021 International Olympiad contests in Physics and Biology, the education ministry announced.

Two students from the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and one from the High School for Gifted Student under the Hanoi University of Science scored three gold medals at 2021 International Physics Olympiad, the quality assurance department under the Ministry of Education and Training revealed Friday.

Two silvers were won by two students from Lam Son High School in Thanh Hoa and Phan Boi Chau High School in Nghe An, the department added.

With its medal tally, Vietnam was ranked 7th among 76 countries and territories to participate in 2021 International Physics Olympiad hosted online by Lithuania.

Previously on Thursday, the department had also announced another gold medal won by a student at Ly Tu Trong High School in Can Tho at 2021 International Biology Olympiad.

Two silvers were won by two students from Vinh Phuc High School in Vinh Phuc and Hung Vuong High School in Phu Tho, with one bronze going to another student from Hung Vuong, it added.

2021 International Biology Olympiad was hosted online by Portugal from July 18 to July 23, with 304 participants from 76 countries and territories.
