Vietnam's Covid-19 domestic tally crosses 1,900

The Health Ministry announced 20 more local Covid-19 cases Saturday morning, raising the infection count of Vietnam's fourth community wave to 1,913.

The new patients were recorded in five northern provinces of Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Thai Binh and Dien Bien.

Of 11 cases in Bac Giang, 10 are associated with the cluster at Quang Chau and Van Trung industrial parks, of which operation has been suspended since Monday. The other patient was detected in an affected area that has been isolated.

In Hai Duong, four cases are all linked to previously confirmed Covid-19 patients.

Three cases in Bac Ninh, one in Thai Binh and one in Dien Bien are also people related to Covid-19 patients.

Since the new wave of Covid-19 emerged in Vietnam on April 27, the nation has recorded 1,913 cases in 30 cities and provinces.

Neighboring provinces Bac Giang and Bac Ninh, home to major foreign manufacturing plants, now have the largest number of infections, at 778 and 394.

So far, Vietnam has registered 4,961 cases and 3,482 are locally-transmitted cases.

Of the patients, 2,689 have recovered and 41 have died, including six in the new wave.
