The Ministry of Health confirmed 86,053 new Covid-19 cases Friday, including more than 13,000 cases detected in Vinh Phuc over several previous days.

The three leading localities in the number of cases were Vinh Phuc, Hanoi and Yen Bai with 15,700, 7,734 and 2,998 cases, respectively.

Thirty-three deaths confirmed on Friday took the pandemic’s total death toll to 42,526, or 0.4 percent of the total infections.

Since the fourth wave started in April last year, the country has recorded over 9.6 million Covid-19 cases.

Vietnam has administered more than 206 million Covid-19 vaccine doses so far.
