Vietnam records 314 new local Covid cases

The Ministry of Health announced another 314 local Covid-19 cases Thursday morning, all in HCMC and its neighbor Binh Duong Province.

Ho Chi Minh City reported 234 cases. Of them, 184 were detected in quarantine zones and isolated areas and 50 others have unclear infection sources.

The city will start imposing its second 15-day citywide social distancing Friday after the first time in early April.

Binh Duong registered 80 cases and all have been quarantined and isolated prior to their test results.

Since the new wave of Covid-19 emerged in Vietnam on April 27, the nation has recorded 19,873 local infections in 56 of its 63 cities and provinces.

HCMC now leads the country with the highest numbers of cases, at 8,385.
