Vietnam records 3,697 new Covid-19 cases

Health authorities confirmed 3,697 local Covid-19 patients Wednesday evening, raising the ongoing wave’s tally to over 116,900.

Among the new patients, Ho Chi Minh City recorded the most, 2,334, followed by its neighbor Binh Duong Province, 631, and the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap, 153.

Of all the new infections, 781 were detected in the community and 2,916 were in quarantine zones and areas under lockdown.

On Wednesday 6,559 cases were recorded in total, with 4,449 of them in HCMC.

More than three months into the new wave, Vietnam has recorded community infections in 62 of its 63 cities and provinces.

Between July 19-26, 106 deaths were recorded nationwide, with 91 of them in HCMC.

HCMC has the highest number of infections, over 77,100.

The country has administered more than 5.5 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, fully vaccinating 450,836 people with two shots.
