Vietnam records 3,635 new Covid-19 cases

The Ministry of Health confirmed 3,635 Covid-19 cases Friday night, pushing the domestic tally in the new wave to 133,206.

HCMC accounted for most of the new cases with 1,542, followed by Binh Duong with 636 and Long An with 448. The remaining cases were recorded in 27 provinces and cities.

The latest cases took Vietnam’s Friday tally to 8,622 cases, the second highest after the 9,225 cases recorded on July 24.

The number of recoveries since the start of the pandemic rose to 35,484 after 3,704 patients were confirmed recovered on Friday.

The Ministry of Health also announced 298 Covid-19 deaths recorded July 16-30 in nine provinces and cities, raising the death toll since the pandemic started last year to 1,161.

Four provinces– Bac Kan, Dien Bien, Quang Ninh and Yen Bai– have gone through 30 days without recording a new case.

The country has vaccinated more than 5.52 million people against Covid-19.
