Vietnam records 28,307 new local Covid cases

The Health Ministry on Sunday announced 28,307 new local Covid-19 cases, with Hanoi continuing to account for the most infections.

The capital city reported 2,181 cases on Sunday, followed by northern provinces of Yen Bai and Vinh Phuc at 1,510 and 938.

On Tuesday, the ministry also reported another 19 deaths due to Covid-19, raising the total number of deaths so far to 42,813 cases, or around 0.4 percent of all infections.

The average number of Covid-19 deaths recorded in the past seven days was 30, a decrease of 28 percent compared to the previous week.

Around 77.3 million people of Vietnam's 96 million population have been vaccinated with two doses, and more than 51.4 million have received the third dose.
