Vietnam records 26,023 new local Covid cases

Vietnam on Thursday recorded 26,023 new local Covid-19 cases, bringing the inflection tally in the fourth wave to 2,401,114 cases so far.

The three localities with the highest numbers of new cases are Hanoi with 2,887 cases, Nghe An with 1,749 cases and Hai Phong with 1,366 cases.

74 deaths were added to the national database on Thursday, with 16 cases in Hanoi, four each in Da Nang, Hai Duong, Quang Nam and Thua Thien-Hue and HCMC, three each in Binh Dinh, Can Tho, Dong Thap and Vinh Long, two each in Dak Lak, Dong Nai, Hau Giang, Lam Dong, Nghe An, Quang Ngai and Quang Ninh, and one each in Bac Ninh, Binh Thuan, Cao Bang, Dak Nong, Ha Giang, Ha Nam, Khanh Hoa, Long An, Ninh Binh, Soc Trang, Thai Nguyen and Tien Giang.

The total number of deaths so far is 38,688 cases, or around 1.6 percent of all infections.

9,992 Covid-19 patients were announced recovered on Thursday, bringing the number of recovered cases so far to 2,206,594 cases.

79.1 million people have received their first Covid-19 vaccine shots, 74.4 million have received their second shots and 30.4 million have received their third shots.

Vietnam has recorded 192 infections with the Omicron variant so far, including six community cases in HCMC and Hanoi while the rest foreign arrivals.
