Vietnam confirmed 16 more Covid-19 community transmission cases Tuesday noon in northern and central localities.

Ten of the cases were recorded in Bac Giang, two in Hanoi, two in Quang Tri, one in Bac Ninh and one in Hai Duong. All the cases were recorded in locked-down zones.

In Hanoi, two men aged 31 and 68 were associated with the capital's K Hospital, which has been locked down after it was revealed to be a coronavirus hotspot. They are now treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, another locked down hospital.

In Bac Ninh, a 6-year-old girl is associated with the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

In Hai Duong, a 30-year-old man had made contact with a confirmed coronavirus case. He's now being treated at the Hai Duong Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

In Quang Tri, a man and a woman, both 23, were infected after making contact with one coronavirus case. They are now treated at the Quang Tri Hospital for Lung Diseases.

Vietnam is currently facing its toughest Covid-19 wave yet, which has seen 502 community cases in 26 cities and provinces since late last month. On Monday, 125 community cases were recorded in a single day, the highest daily infection tally observed ever since the disease appeared in Vietnam early last year.

Over 892,000 people in Vietnam have been vaccinated against Covid-19 so far. Over 67,000 are in quarantine.
