Vietnam records 14,558 new local Covid cases

The Health Ministry confirmed 14,558 new local Covid-19 cases Monday, up 246 cases from the previous day, pushing the ongoing wave's tally to 1,317,468.

The three localities with the highest number of new cases were Can Tho with 1,189 cases, Ho Chi Minh City with 1,174 cases and Tay Ninh with 859 cases.

Of the day's tally, 8,227 cases were detected in the community.

The Health Ministry also confirmed 1,130 recoveries the same day, bringing the total number of recovered cases so far to 1,010,407.

The Covid-19 death toll in Vietnam rose to 26,483 with the confirmation of 223 deaths Monday.

The average number of new cases in the country for the past seven days has been 13,961 a day while the national death rate has been 201 a day on average.

Over 73.4 million people have been vaccinated, with more than 54.4 million receiving two doses.
