The first validation samples taken from the produced batch will be shipped to the Gamaleya Center in Russia for quality control checks, the fund and the company said in a joint statement, Russia’s sovereign wealth fund RDIF and Vietnamese pharmaceutical firm Vabiotech said in a joint statement.
Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of RIDF, said that the two entities are cooperating technology transfer to help Vietnamese access to the vaccine more easily.
Vietnam approved the use of Sputnik V on March 23. On March 16 Russa gifted 1,000 Sputnik V doses to Vietnam.
Russia has agreed to provide 20 million Sputnik V vaccine doses to Vietnam this year.
Sputnik V, known as VGam-COVID-Vac, is developed by the Gamaleya National Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology and is the world’s first registered vaccine, present in than 68 countries.
Russia says the efficacy of the vaccine is 97.6 percent.
