A Vietnam Airlines plane flying from Germany to HCMC had to stop halfway in Azerbaijan as a German man on board got sick.

The passenger, 18, encountered some health issue and received emergency care from a doctor and a nurse who were also passengers on the flight, yet his condition did not improve.

The captain and the crew decided to land at the nearest airport, Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku City, four hours and 35 minutes after department early on Friday morning (Hanoi time).

Vietnam Airlines cooperated with the ground service department at the airport to assist the passenger with immigration procedures, visa application, and emergency transport.

The plane, Boeing 787, continued to take off to HCMC after a three-hour pause.
