Dozens of countries, including the U.S., Russia, Japan and South Korea, plan to participate in the Vietnam Defense Expo at the end of the year.

In a Saturday conference regarding the expo, Phung Si Tan, deputy head of the General Staff of the People's Army, said over 40 companies from 19 countries and territories have confirmed that they will send delegations to the Vietnam Defense Expo.

The event is planned to take place from Dec. 19 to 22 at the Gia Lam Airport in Hanoi's Long Bien District.

The event's area will span 3,300 m2, with 100 m2 for outdoor exhibitions.

The Ministry of National Defense is expected to invite over 120 guest groups from 50 countries to the military and weapons exchange. Invitations have been sent to 35 different nations' defense ministers.

Tan said the Vietnamese defense ministry plans to, step by step, fund the event from multiple sources to make it biennial without any longer relying on the national budget.

The 2024 convention will exhibit numerous combat vehicles and military solutions for navy, anti-air and cybersecurity forces, among others. The opening ceremony will include aerial and martial arts performances.
