Police identified the man as Konstantin Galich, a well-known figure in Ukraine's crypto community and co-founder of the Cryptology Key trading academy. Authorities said he was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head, and a firearm registered in his name was found at the scene, Mothership reported.
According to Kyiv police, Galich had told relatives the day before that he was "feeling depressed" due to severe financial troubles and had sent them a farewell message, the Daily Mail reported.
Binance square said he may have lost around $30 million of investors' money to the crash.
Investigators are treating his death as suspicious and are still determining whether it was suicide or foul play.
Galich's death has also been announced on his Telegram channel. "Konstantin Kudo tragically passed away. The cause is being determined. We will update you on any further news," the post read, the Economic Times reported.
The tragedy came on the heels of a sharp global cryptocurrency sell-off that followed U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of 100% tariffs on Chinese imports on Oct. 10. The policy shock triggered panic across markets, leading to a steep decline in major digital assets.
Cryptocurrency prices had previously soared under Trump's presidency, as he embraced crypto investors, launched his own meme coin and promised to create a strategic cryptocurrency reserve for the U.S.
