Taxi rams series of motorbikes at red light

A taxi cab crashed into a group of motorbikes and bicycles from behind at a red light in Hue, injuring at least six people on Tuesday morning.

Various people, including children on their parent's motorbikes and those riding their own bicycles to school, were waiting at the red light at the intersection of An Duong Vuong and Ho Dac Di in Hue in central Vietnam at around 7 a.m.

Roughly 10 seconds before the light was due to turn green, a taxi approaching from behind plowed into the bicycles and motorbikes.

The impact caused several motorbikes to crash into another car, while five motorbikes and bicycles were knocked onto the sidewalk. Six people were carried to hospitals afterwards but sustained no life-threatening injuries.

The taxi stopped after five meters as a motorbike was stuck in its front. The elderly motorbike driver emerged from the incident in a state of shock.

Nearly a dozen motorbikes and bicycles lay strewn across the road and the sidewalk, with the taxi showing minor front-end damage.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the mishap.
