Authorities in Da Nang had to mount an elaborate rescue Tuesday after a South Korean woman fell off her motor scooter and got trapped under a bus.

At around 4:20 p.m. she was riding on Hoang Sa Street to the bottom of the Son Tra peninsula.

As she approached a curve she lost control, fell off and was thrown under a 45-seater bus traveling in the opposite direction.

Miraculously the bus driver managed to stop in time, but she was trapped under a wheel.

The Da Nang Firefighting and Rescue Police Command Center dispatched two rescue vehicles to the scene.

Within 10 minutes rescuers secured the bus's wheels, used air cushions, lifting bags and hydraulic jacks to raise the bus and create enough space to get her out.

She was taken to a hospital with multiple injuries.

The road leading up the peninsula has many curves and steep sections.

Since 2019 Da Nang has banned scooters on certain sections of Son Tra.

The accident occurred around five kilometers from the base of the peninsula and in an area where scooters are allowed.
