A man has been arrested in Vietnam after allegedly robbing a credit union branch in South Korea's Daejeon City last month.

The South Korean suspect stole around ₩39 million (US$29,100) from a branch of the National Credit Union Federation of Korea, before escaping on a stolen motorbike and traveling to Vietnam a few days later, the Yonhap News reported, citing the Daejeon Police Agency.

The man was tracked down by police in a Da Nang casino on Sunday following a tip-off by a South Korean living there. The suspect's family and friends reportedly said the man was in debt due to gambling.

An agency official said the agency is working with Vietnamese authorities to bring the man back to South Korea for an investigation.
