Vietnam confirmed an imported Covid-19 case from Russia Monday evening, taking its tally of active cases to 70.

"Patient 1169" is a 57-year-old resident of Vung Tau Town in the southern eponymous province. He landed at Van Don Airport in Quang Ninh Province on October 16 on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5062 from Russia and was quarantined on arrival in Ninh Binh Province.

His third test results showed Sunday that he had contracted the novel coronavirus. He is being treated at Cau Yen Regional General Clinic in Ninh Binh.

The man is the 15th Covid-19 case among those who had boarded the same flight. The other patients are being treated in the northern provinces of Quang Ninh, Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh.

Of Vietnam’s 70 active cases, four have tested negative once, two for the second time and nine for the third time.

Four patients were declared recovered Monday, raising total recoveries to 1,061 of 1,169 cases. The nation’s death toll from the disease stands at 35.

Vietnam has gone 53 days without community transmission of the virus. More than 14,000 people are in quarantine at present.

Worldwide, over 43 million people have been infected, with fatalities climbing to over 1.1 million.
