Phu Quoc, one of the country's busiest airports, has embraced the silent airport policy and stopped announcing flight information on its public address system.

It is now displayed on screens in Vietnamese and English.

The public announcement will be only used to announce gate changes, emergency bulletins and fire alarms.

The airport has put up 13 large boards to inform passengers about the change.

Phu Quoc is the fifth airport in Vietnam to adopt the global trend after Tan Son Nhat in HCMC, Da Nang, Noi Bai in Hanoi, and Cam Ranh in Khanh Hoa Province.

Phu Quoc Island, the largest in Vietnam, provides 30-day visa exemption for foreigners. It has become a top tourist destination after building an international airport in 2012.

The airport has a capacity of seven million passengers a year, receiving 3.7 million in 2019.
