More than 200 passengers bound for Singapore were forced to deplane at Delhi Airport after spending two hours in an overheated cabin when the cooling system broke down.

Flight AI380 was scheduled to depart for Singapore at 11 p.m. on Sept. 10, but the cabin’s air-conditioning failed before takeoff, Times of India reported. For two hours, travelers remained seated as the temperature rose, with some using boarding passes and magazines as makeshift fans, Mothership reported.

Videos and photos shared on social media showed passengers visibly uncomfortable, with many criticizing the airline for the delay.

"Two hours without proper cooling is unacceptable," one passenger wrote in a post on X.

Air India said the delay was caused by a "cabin cooling issue on the ground" and that staff kept travelers updated. Ground crews at Delhi Airport also handed out food and refreshments while the situation was being resolved, the airline added.

Eventually, the affected aircraft was replaced, and the flight departed at 5:36 a.m. on Sept. 11, more than six hours behind schedule.
