Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and his wife will pay a state visit to Vietnam from Nov. 1-5.

The visit is made at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong and his wife, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday.

Khurelsukh has been Mongolia's president since 2021.

He visited Vietnam in January 2010 as General Secretary of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party. He met President Thuong at King Charles III's coronation in London last May.

Vietnam and Mongolia established diplomatic relations on Nov. 17, 1954. Vietnam is considering Mongolia's proposal to upgrade bilateral ties to comprehensive partnership.

Trade between the two countries increased from around US$50 million in 2020 to around $80 million in 2021 and $85 million in 2022.

Mongolia invested in three projects worth $1.1 million in Vietnam as of November 2019.

Around 400 Vietnamese are living and working in Mongolia, mostly in car garages.
