A man, who went missing for 10 days at a tourism site in central Khanh Hoa Province, was found among the mountains 5 km away from the site in an exhausted state.

Nguyen Huu Trung, 29, was found by locals who were fishing at a creek in Ninh Hoa Town, located 5 km away from the Ba Ho tourism site, early on Monday.

Nguyen Huu Thom, 56, Trung's father, said at the point of discovery, his son had been exhausted and suffered from several injuries. He was taken home at 4 a.m. the same day.

Thom said Trung survived by drinking water and eating food from his backpack, sometimes resorting to plants in the forest. He tried to climb a high peak to look for a way out but failed, so he stayed near the area, waiting to be found.

11 days prior, Trung and six other people had a camping trip at the Ba Ho tourism site in Ninh Hoa Town. When the other six decided to stop by a site to rest, Trung continued his journey.

After 15 minutes, when the group could neither see nor contact Trung, they informed the site's management board about what happened. Authorities then deployed over 100 people, including military and police forces, to look for Trung. The search encountered difficulties due to rough terrains.

The Ba Ho tourism site, located 25 km to the north of beach town Nha Trang, is known as a popular destination for those looking to hike, cross creeks or climb mountains.
