Hanoi plans to build a 13,000-square-meter performing arts center, capable of hosting around 3,500 seats, near the West Lake.

The center, designed to float on Dam Tri Lake, is part of the planning for Quang An Peninsula. The Tay Ho District People's Committee is currently gathering opinions regarding the idea.

Nguyen Le Hoang, the district's deputy chairman, said that while the center would be built on Dam Tri Lake, it would not affect the water surface much and would not encroach onto the West Lake. The center would be designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, who has overseen projects like The Shard in London and Parliament House in Valletta, Malta.

To gather public opinion, the district published info about the project on its information portal. There would be a conference this week to gather opinions from locals directly affected by the initiative.

Planning for the central area of Quang Nam Peninsula would span over 77 hectares, including 45 hectares of Quang An Ward.

Per the urban planning project, Quang An Peninsula would have green spaces, amusement and cultural parks, along with malls and hotels. The intent is to connect underground spaces, including parking lots, and improve traffic networks and infrastructure.
