Vietnam’s active Covid-19 case count rose to 126 Tuesday after five Russia returnees were confirmed infected with the novel coronavirus.

Patients 1284 and 1285, men aged 29 and 33, landed October 31 at Quang Ninh Province’s Van Don Airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5062 from Russia.

They tested positive for the virus when in quarantine and are being treated at the Hoa Binh General Hospital in the eponymous northern province.

Patients 1286, 1287 and 1288, women aged 25, 32 and 66, landed November 11 at the Cam Ranh Airport in Khanh Hoa Province on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5062, also from Russia. Quarantined at a facility in the central province on arrival, they are being treated at the Khanh Hoa Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The five new patients have taken Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally to 1,288 cases with 1,124 recoveries and 35 deaths. Three people who died after being declared Covid-19 free have not been counted in the list of recoveries or deaths.

The nation has gone 75 days without any community transmission of the virus.

More than 55.47 million people have been infected with the virus worldwide, with more than 1.33 million deaths.
