While passing Co May Bridge that connects Ba Ria and Vung Tau towns at around 8:30 a.m., the fishing boat with 20 crew members got stuck due to high tide.
As the tide kept rising, the boat had no way to escape, prompting police to come to the rescue.
Rescuers employed a tug boat and pumped water into the vessel to raise its load and so enlarge the gap between it and the bridge.
After four hours, the boat was released with no damage caused.
Co May Bridge lies 20 kilometers from beach town Vung Tau. It is 258 meters long and 38 meters wide.
