Moon Da-hye, daughter of former South Korean president Moon Jae-in, was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) after causing a traffic accident in Seoul that injured a taxi driver.

Seoul's Yongsan Police Station, under the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, reported that 40-year-old Moon Da-hye crashed into a taxi around 2:50 a.m. last Saturday in Itaewon-dong, Seoul, while intoxicated. Her blood alcohol content was measured at 0.14%, far exceeding the 0.08% threshold for license revocation.

The accident left the taxi driver with minor injuries, according to The Korea Herald.

Surveillance footage showed Moon visibly staggering as she entered her Hyundai Casper, a vehicle gifted to her by her father earlier this year. It is estimated that she drove for at least 400 meters before the crash.

Moon Da-hye has been booked for investigation, but authorities have not yet decided when to summon her for questioning, a senior official from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency stated on Monday, as reported by The Korea Times.

The police allowed her to return home after confirming her identity, following standard procedures for DUI cases. The official also noted that she took a breathalyzer test at the scene and walked with police to a nearby substation without difficulty in communication.

Former President Moon Jae-in, who served from 2017 to 2022, has not yet commented on the incident. Moon, 71, and his wife Kim Jeong-suk have two children, son Moon Joon-yong and daughter Moon Da-hye.
