Da Nang to build disabled-friendly entrances to beaches

The work to install 24 such entrances at popular tourist beaches on Vo Nguyen Giap, Hoang Sa, Truong Sa, and Nguyen Tat Thanh streets was approved at a cost of over VND10.9 billion ($470,000).

It would begin in 2021 and take two years, Nguyen Duc Vu, head of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourism beaches management, said.

The entrances would be built with steel-reinforced concrete and steel handrails, and fiberglass paths would be laid to the edge of the water, he said.

"It has been done all over the world, so we thought the project would help less fortunate people enjoy the ocean."

The city is home to many of Vietnam’s most scenic beaches and is a major tourist destination.

It is expected to receive 2.7 million visitors this year, its tourism department said.
