The Da Lat administration is gathering opinions from local departments and agencies on setting up a pedestrian street along the Xuan Huong Lake.

The pedestrian street, which is part of a draft plan to develop the night-time economy in the hill resort town in the Central Highlands, will be on Tran Quoc Toan Street, running from the Dinh Tien Hoang intersection to the city's flower garden, between Xuan Huong Lake and the Da Lat golf course.

This area will create space for performance arts including music, street dancing, painting and crafting as also art roller skating and art photography.

Additionally, tourists can go shopping in decorated models of old railroad cars and get to sample local delicacies. A tour of the lake by boat, Lam Vien square to the walking street, will also be part of the attractions.

Da Lat will source investment or return thereof by renting land and water surface on a yearly basis. Bid winners of such rental contracts will need to implement the approved plan and recover their capital through business activities.

To implement the project, the city will widen the route so that the pedestrian street can become operational by the end of 2024.

In addition to the pedestrian street along Xuan Huong Lake, Da Lat plans a night market in the Light Park to replace the one in front of Da Lat Market, about 200 meters from the old market, open an amusement park beneath the golf course and the Tran Le food street.

Da Lat has a pedestrian street at night in the Hoa Binh area and Da Lat market that sees serious traffic jams in the area during holidays.
